ʻAmakihi & Wiliwili flower

The ʻamakihi is fairly common in intact forest habitat, which makes us so happy! They have a yellow green appearance and are known for their little black mask that runs from bill through the eye. Theyʻre prevalence at lower elevations indicates that ʻamakihi may be evolving a tolerance to avian malaria which is so rad! Being adaptable foragers also contributes to their population size, and wiliwili flowers are most definitely a welcomed sweet nectar treat for these cuties.
