Pueo Die Cut

It’s hard not to get chicken skin when you observe pueo in the wild. Their strong, silent and watchful nature reminds me of the revered ‘aumākua that are said to guide their loved ones. Unlike other owls, pueo are diurnal- meaning mostly active in the day. I tend to see them most at dawn or dusk flying over Saddle Road or resting on fence posts near Waimea and Waiki’i.
