ʻŌkaʻi Blackburn Sphinx Moth

Hawaiiʻs largest native insect with a wingspan of up to 5 inches! This species was thought to be extinct in the 70ʻs but has since switched host plants and has continued to persevere despite its low numbers. What a comeback! Although endangered, there are larvae (caterpillars) still found today in dry forest ecosystems.
