Palila

Here’s a closer look at the Palila, one of our amazing honeycreepers that is solely dependent on māmane trees. These chonky birds are now dependent on only 25 square miles of habitat on the upper slopes of Mauna Kea. They have lost more than 95% of their historic range and have a population of less than 950. But there’s still hope! Mosquito birth control is in the works and there are so many amazing organizations working together to make sure these unique birds survive and thrive.
